4. You’re jealous
Narcissists are the ones who are jealous, but they accuse you of being jealous when you express any concern or dissatisfaction with their behavior. They may cheat, flirt, or compare you to others, and then blame you for being insecure or paranoid. They want to make you feel inferior and unworthy, so you stay loyal and devoted to them.
How to respond:
Don’t let them demean you. You have the right to expect respect and fidelity from your partner. You can say something like, “I’m not jealous. I’m discerning. You’re being unfaithful and disrespectful, and I won’t accept it.”
5. You’re boring
Narcissists are quickly bored and need constant stimulation and excitement. They may criticize you for being boring when you don’t share their interests, when you don’t entertain them, or when you have a different personality or lifestyle. They want to make you feel inadequate and uninteresting, so you try harder to please them.
How to respond:
Don’t let them judge you. You have the right to be yourself and enjoy what you like. You can say something like, “I’m not boring. I’m authentic. You’re being rude and insensitive, and I won’t change for you.”
