12. You’re the problem
Narcissists never take responsibility for their actions and always blame others for their problems. They may tell you that you’re the problem, that you’re the cause of their unhappiness, or that you’re the reason they act the way they do. They want to make you feel responsible and guilty so you fix their issues and change their behavior.
How to respond:
Don’t let them scapegoat you. You have the right to be free from their burdens and expectations. You can say something like, “I’m not the problem. You are. You’re being irresponsible and irrational, and I won’t take the blame.”
Conclusion
Narcissists say demeaning things to hurt and manipulate their victims. They use language as a weapon to undermine, control, and abuse others. They don’t care about your feelings, needs, or rights. They only care about themselves and their ego.
If you’re dealing with a narcissist, don’t let them get to you. Don’t believe their lies, don’t fall for their tricks, and don’t give them what they want. You deserve better. You deserve respect, kindness, and love.
